"Please Don't Do That Again"
|
"Desi said you noticed EVERYTHING," Glory began. "She told me an' MaryJane about that night...when you uh...lost it.
I didn't know what she expects you to say to her. I didn't want to pester you if you still weren't ready to...."
"It's not a matter if I'm ready. I'm beyond ready. What matters is that you're old enough to hear it and maybe understand.
That was back on Terra, twenty five years ago, in a jungle full of several thousand Ferals trying to kill us all. Last I heard, we don't have those here."
"I'm all over that now. I went to see Beren and Ursula shortly after I started coming down to Eli's and met you. Beren's got more moves than you can count. He and Ursula cured me of doing that again.
"So I think that's what I'll be telling Desi. Maybe that'll put her mind at ease. And as for you, little girl - you got something to say to me, just say it straight up. That's the way this relationship works. Got it?
"You're not mad at me?" Glory asked.
"No baby. I'm not mad at you." He stroked her cheek. "I know how you are. You want to make everyone well and strong.
Sometimes...sometimes people are already healed, Glory. You need to learn to recognize these things. Alright?
You're dealing with someone a little heavier weight than the Little Prince. Get used to it."
Djinn finally bit the asparagus off his fork. "Mmmmh! Not bad! Why don't you get your food and bring it over. I can feed myself," he smiled and winked at her. No, she was still 'a baby' as far as experience went. She'd learn, and he didn't need to make more out of it than it was.
