Glorund sets forth to seek Turin (2)
|
Light isn't exactly good to show the back of the tapestry "Glorund sets forth to seek Turin". But you can more or less notice the threads on the back. It's a way the Aubusson tapestries are recognizable. Threads are sewed behind the tapestry to stay together.
Note it allows to fix a tapestry with its real colors after long periods of time. If the back isn't turned under the sun for example. Because the light and the conditions of keeping a tapestry are essential for they pass through the time.
We can see here the sun wasn't making a ;) on the drawing (bottom image). If you look the tapestry, you will find it doing that. I have no idea why it was made. Possibly to respond to the Christmas 1928 tapestry, where the Moon does ;)
