A Dark and Stormy Night
|
It was a dark and stormy night, the graveyard was beautiful, the tombs had been decorated and lit with pumpkins and candles, in honour of the departed ones. Their rites performed the families returned to their warm, cosy firesides, taking great care to lock their doors and windows - for tonight was All Hallows Eve.
The friends however had gathered in their usual spot, their own place, where they could enjoy some free time and space away from the elders, a little warily at first because they had heard all the tales - and tonight was All Hallows Eve.
Beyond their small circle of light and laughter things began to stir, skeletal hands pushed their way through the ground, a crow landed on a high tree branch, the ancient trees began to wake - for tonight was All Hallows Eve.
Drawn by the brightness of their souls and the quickening of their blood, the friends became surrounded by the denizens of the graveyard, for on this one night of the year, the dead walk, and all manner of creatures stalk the earth - and this night is All Hallows Eve.
Blissfully unaware of the company approaching one started to relate a story ‘It was a dark and stormy night…….
