Desi - Secret Child 02-1
My mother was of The Cloud People, the Chachapoya. She lived in a fortress city called Kuelap high in the Amazonian
Andes. Kuelap was a beautiful place - full of wise and beautiful people with amazing knowledge - healers,
alchemists, great brujos and brujas...shamans. Of course they were also called 'sorcerers', 'wizards' and 'demons' by those who did not appreciate the depth of their skills. So I hear and so it was written.

My mother, Ipiqui, was one of those.

Eduardo Valdez heard of her. He went and met her. He was so impressed with her, he went to Julian Vargas my father,
and told him he had to go and meet her.

Ipiqui was what is referred to as a 'spider woman'. She was from a very old, old Vampire family said to have been
Maya. She was a weaver. She could weave rugs to sleep on that would bring prophetic dreams, or fanciful dreams.
If two people laid down upon the same rug, they would share their dream. She used blood in her medicines.
Raphael told me that Ipiqui knew the formula for the Resurrection fluid and he never told her what it was.
She would also heal people with spiderwebs. She knew songs to sing to spiders, and they did her bidding.
Everyone who met her was both terrified and impressed by her. She was a rare gem, my father told me.

This is what I come from, but not who I am. I'm not half of what my mother was.
