Olena UUTAi, beautiful in the Shamanic outfit.  Amazing voice, and impressive calls of the animals of her native Siberia.   She makes the Horse and Wolf perfectly.  I hear calls of the Poor-will, hawk and owl.   With those, I am pretty sure she would have no problem copying the sounds of everything around her.
Its amazing she has been traveling to many cities, and performing in any main venue for the public.   It is entertaining enough to make one want to learn more.  Does me, anyway!   She would be like a Native American Medicine Man I think.  Or Medicine Woman.   What matters is what the Shaman's function is in the tribe, or village.   Through the ages, they were important to each community.   Cool stuff.  Learning more now...  :)

I don't think she's exactly an old-style shaman. She says it's Neo-shamanism, which in some ways is not exactly the same. We're talking traditional shamanism vs. a kind of New-Age Shamanism. Like anything, it depends on the person and their intent in taking this up. The traditional shaman undergoes a rather weird and painful 'initiation' where thru entering a trance and entering into a kind of alternate reality. They are in that reality torn apart by beings in that reality and it feels real to them. Then they are put back together, sometimes with crystals inserted in their bodies. Mind, these crystals are of this other reality or plane. They come back a different person than they were before all of this. Then they are thee Shaman after this 're-birth'. They can be male or female. I read all this a long time ago in a book by Mircea Eliade. I think it's called "Shamanism: The Archaic Technique of Ecstasy"

Neo-shamans often learn from someone else who may or may not be teaching them properly: someone who is out to aggrandise themselves as a shaman or a 'devi' or 'guru' and they aint no such thing. They're quacks. Not all of them, certainly. But I know for a fact these people are around. They do not go through such an unpleasant and painful 'remaking' or re-birth. They don't deal with the dark sides of things, whereas the traditional ones do...because not all shamans are nice. Just like all witches or brujos/brujas are not nice. Or they learn from books - people who write books.

I don't know how she was trained so I can't say. That doesn't mean I don't admire what she can do or her voice, look or the girl's moxie. She's making her vision happen - whatever that may be. I very much do admire her. I just wouldn't go thinking she's equivalent to the real thing.

*****

These are Altai mountain people and different types of their singing. They live south and west of the Sakha in Yakutia. All those people are shamanic. Some of the images of warriors I believe are from a movie called "Temojin" which is about Ghengis Khan's life. It's actually pretty good and it's free.

There are images of bird-hunters and the ones with the round-drums are shaman. Real shaman. See, they aren't as 'pretty' and polished but they're a damn sight more powerful.
