Poser 6 and Macintosh users
« on: June 13, 2009, 08:41:17 PM »
I know there are a few of us out there.

Well let us start this with I had to reinstall Poser because it has been misbehaving for quite some time...and had I known what I found out I could maybe have save myself another headache...lol

After reinstallation I go to use the darn thing and it would not retain my SN and claimed the shortcut in my doc was not valid when trying to open it later on.

thennnnnnnnn, I remembered I had to do the update so I installed the update....no joy still did not like me and then to top things off when I did use it and chose to render.....it rendered a blank workspace like V4 had gone invisible.

I go to search SM and find that at some time or another they put out an SR3 update for macs and P6...thanks guys for never alerting me of it....sheesh.

Well after sending then a ticket with my woes I installed the update, redid those Dz whatever they are called files in the !DAZ folder for V4 and then redid my image and yay it rendered, and no error messages

Moral of this long story......if you have a Macintosh and P6 you need the last update they have for it.... Updates for P5 thru 7 just scroll nearly to the bottom to find
Download Update - Poser 6 Service Release 3 - 27.9 MB (dmg) for Mac OSX

Here is the ones for Windows for P5 thru 7

I take it that in the preferences when you first install that you did not exercise the option for it to check for updates right then and there? It might have saved one or two small headaches, Gods know I am all to familiar with some of the lovely little curve balls and headaches that can come from that proverbial left field.

I do use Windows but I have not ran into that version of the problem.

My only problems recently was the one where your settings get all goofy or it acts quirky and all I do there is delete the preferences from the My Document folder and then restart and rebuild my preferences and it be all better.

for some odd reason that is not in my prefs on the mac....e-frontier used to send me a notice in email about updates available...and once in a newsletter

I feel that this is important enough to plop into their newsletter...lol

Go to Edit > General Preferences > on the dialog box go to the tab for Misc and in the top right corner it has the check for update radio button.

Is this not the case for you?

It is checked by default and it is up to us to click on the check for updates now button that first time. But it should have done so on its own. How odd that it did not do so.

I vaguely remember that P5 did not have that option for updating
