Thanks Aelin!

I have already crashed it 4 times since installing it, while trying to work with Genesis2 (DSON for Poser).
I guess I could try that forum hey?  ;)

You do know that is the working definition of; Insanity = Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results each time.

And that's coming from the expert....   :ifonly:

I have a NO RUSH policy when it comes to the updates.   They update their updates numerous times so I've got time....LOL

Indeed I broke down this morning and pulled Stormbringer out of the rack and did some much needed vacuuming of dust and so forth, when I got it all back together and plugged in, I decided why not let us get the update.

How cute of the nine parts that have to be downloaded four failed.

And people wonder why I wait.

Most times they fail because they install in sequence....If one isn't installed the rest won't follow ..... which is why I always update...everything LOL.....

That sentence is true, but if you read what I wrote, you would realize that there were nine files that had to be downloaded first and it was there that the failures occurred.

Once I got those downloaded everything installed in order with no difficulties.

I swear I must scribble in Sanskrit or something, so many folks miss the trees because of the forest.

And what I was saying is you don't keep the thing online to do OTHER updates which would affect the ones your trying to do now.

We read things right....you write things wrong.... :viking:

New thing with Windows update today.  Now it asks you when you want the computer to update to install the changes.......You can pick a time and a day....but the day is within a one week period.  Otherwise it restarts the computer automatically if you don't turn the "SCHEDULE A TIME" switch on....

So nothing improved if you need to keep your computer running for a reason or another - like an unexpected long render

Actually you can schedule the DAY also as long as it's in a weeks time.....  So they are giving you 7 Days to reboot.

When the updates are to be installed is also up to you.  No more automatically installing them.  I've been working on my computer the whole time the computer was updating...

I doubt that updating Poser would be affected by anything that WinBlozs want to do, remember I was downloading the files.

That has naught to do with WinBloz being up to date or not ....

plus while I had it on line it did not even whine about wanting update the OS.

I see no change in the operation of Poser 11 after the update.

Don't kid yourself.....Anything that gets updated has at least one thing or another that Windows affects.  It's the nature of the beast.....

Before thou sayest whatever, how about you explain how whether or not an OS having the latest update, has any relevance on the ability of said OS to download a file first.

Then I might pay attention.

With newer versions of any operating system comes the same old question: Will I be able to run my old programs on it? Should I? The answer is sometimes yes, sometimes no and often "it depends on several factors." The release of Windows 10 falls into the latter category.

Microsoft's Windows products are generally backwards compatible. A Windows operating system will generally be able to run programs written for its immediate predecessor. Windows 7 could use Windows Vista programs for example.

The vast majority of programs that ran on Windows 7 and Windows 8 will continue to work on Windows 10.
Some programs written for even older versions of Windows may work on Windows 10 without an issue. For other pieces of software, it may take some additional work to get it up and running.

But the key to having everything run smoothly is UPDATES....Silly as it sounds to some  :java:

All you have hit upon is the need for updates to run the programs.

I was and still am only referring to just downloading the file.

There is a difference ...

File downloads , install downloads, etc.....can all pause or crash if the OS is not up to par.....you had that happen a couple of times before.....but in either case...you got what you need downloaded so all is good.....

Uh what happened was that the OS update took an inordinate amount of time for it to install if I recall correctly ... could be wrong but what else is new.
