Title: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser
Post by: sidherose on November 16, 2014, 05:05:13 PM
This tutorial will be available as part of a rather large and wonderful Christmas present from our own Mistress of Dynamic Couture, Marcia Gomes in December, but I wanted to post it here as well for general instruction.

For many of us, Dynamic Cloth is rather like some great 'monster' that we simply don't seem to be able to tame. It can be frustrating to the point of just giving up on it and never touching it again. We may sit here in awe of those who can and wish we could too. I've been there. I've felt those things - most assuredly!

But really, once you figure out how to do it - it's really not that hard. The hardest part about it is making sure that you do everything in the right order. Dynamic clothing is truly wonderful stuff because the software does all the work of fitting the clothing to the figure no matter it's proportions or pose. It adds a sense of movement to what might be an otherwise static image and looks really nice!

To that effect, I have created a series of images with instructions on how to do Dynamic Clothing.

I have also created a zip file that contains these images I'm posting here as well as a ReadMe file which expounds a bit on what the images say. I would heartily suggest you DO read the ReadMe file for the whole story. It won't take long and is worth the few minutes it will take to read it.

You can pick up the zipped tutorial  here (http://fantasiesrealm.com/sidherose/Tutorials/DynamicReadMe.zip), so you can have the entire set on your own machine.

So, now - on to the tutorial itself:

Step I is to load V4 (or any other figure for that matter) into Poser.

Inject Morphs++ into V4 so you can inject your chosen Character morphs. You must at least inject the Character morphs at this point, so the cloth will conform properly to the chosen Character. You do not have to add the Skin MATs at this point.

The whole secret to using Dynamic Cloth lies in the Animation bar at the bottom of your Poser Pose Room window.

When you first load V4 into Poser, you are at Frame 1 in the Default Pose. It is important that you have the figure zeroed to the X, Y and Z coordinates, so the item of clothing will sit on the figure when you load it.

Now, you're going to move your Animation bar slider to Frame 15 and put V4 in the pose in which you want her to be for your image.

For most items of Dynamic Clothing the standard 30 Frames Animation and 15 frames of cloth draping work fine. Some outfits may require more, but that information is usually found in the ReadMe files for those items of Dynamic Clothing.

You DO read the ReadMe files...Right? ;)

SAVE your file at THIS POINT so you can 'Revert' if necessary.

Once you've posed V4, move the Animation bar slider BACK to Frame I.

Now you are going to load the item of clothing.

Dynamic Clothing is always in the PROPS Library.

The item of clothing should lie at least somewhat directly over the figure. If it's not then you need to zero her BODY out in X, Y, and Z.

Okay, we're ready now to go to the Cloth Room and work our 'magic'.

This is where you need to set things up so the cloth will drape correctly.

Just follow the instructions on the images:
Title: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser - Part V
Post by: sidherose on November 16, 2014, 05:28:15 PM
Again, simply follow the instructions shown in the image.

Now you're going to tell Poser WHAT you want to 'Clothify' and that would be the item of clothing you've selected.
Title: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser - Part VI
Post by: sidherose on November 16, 2014, 05:30:39 PM
Now, you're going to tell Poser WHAT you want the item of clothing to clothify to. In this case, it is V4.

Clicking on the Check-box next to her name will select everything that needs to be selected, including her body morphs.
Title: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser - Part VII
Post by: sidherose on November 16, 2014, 05:37:14 PM
This is the crucial part of the process here.

You have selected V4 as the 'Collide Against' object and the item of clothing to 'clothify'.

Now you're going to give it a few parameters to tell it how close or far away from her body you want the item to sit.

You're also going to tell it how many Drape Frames to use. The usual is 15 frames. You can say 20 Frames here if you want for a bit of extra tweaking. The number of Draping Frames is usually half of however many Animation Frames you are going to use. If you use 60 frames, then you would use 30 Draping Frames.

Edited: (I meant 'Ignore' and not 'Avoid' - sorry about that.)

Also, if the dress or pants legs are long, or the sleeves are long, you do NOT want to check the boxes that say "Ignore Hand/Foot Collisions". Just as a general rule, always check "Ignore Head Collisions"...unless you are conforming something with a hood on it like a cloak.

Edit:

If you get too much crumpling in some places, try leaving the Collision Offset and Collision Depth at 1.000 and rerun your Calculate Simulation.
Title: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser - Part VIII
Post by: sidherose on November 16, 2014, 05:40:49 PM
Are you ready to watch the magic happen?

Once you've set up the parameters, just click on the 'Calculate Simulation' button on the top of the right panel in the Cloth Room, and watch it work.

Some more complex items of clothing may take longer, in which case you might want to go do something else - like take a break, get some coffee, etc.
Title: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser - Part IX Finish
Post by: sidherose on November 16, 2014, 05:47:03 PM
Alright! You should now have fitted, clothified Dynamic outfit.

Return to the Pose room and add Skin MATs (if you didn't), Hair, Jewelry, Shoes, Props and whatever else you want in the scene. At this point you can even change the material texture of the item of clothing you just clothified, if you decide you want a different one.

If you move ANY part of V4's body where the clothing is touching, you'll get pokies. If you do this, just CNTRL>Z to undo that. If the clothing is not touching her Feet, Toes, Shoulders (not to be confused with Collars), or Forearms, you CAN move those without affecting the cloth draping. There is always UNDO if you mess up.

And Render for your scene! You're done. That's it  :woohoo:

Ah so the only thing I do that is different is that I do not have the drape frame set long enough so mayhaps that is what my problem has been all this time.
Title: Re: How To Do Dynamic Cloth in Poser

Yup, it should be at least half of however many Frames total you're using.

I want to show you something here. I've put Little Fox's "Witchy Dress" (which is dynamic) on "Queen" who is one of RenderCandy's girls (RecieCup).

Queen is BIG girl. She has very large hips and thighs and fairly large breasts. She's a bear to dress in conforming clothing. However, with Dynamic cloth, dressing her is a lot easier.

I am at the wrong computer so I can't show you  the one I did.....YES I was finally after all these centuries, able to dress my dolly in dynamic dress. i used it with one from marciaGomes Christmas freebie.

So you all need to wait on those but let me tell you they are gorgeous.

I have never ever been able to get dynamic to work regardless of the tutorial but this one is so different, the images are spot on and easy to follow.

So now you all do not have an excuse for not getting it to work....If my tiny brain did it then anyone can.

I will add the dolly here in a bit.

Hi all...sorry but I had to edit Part VII as I made an error. This is the edit:

Edited: (I meant 'Ignore' and not 'Avoid' - sorry about that.)

Also, if the dress or pants legs are long, or the sleeves are long, you do NOT want to check the boxes that say "Ignore Hand/Foot Collisions". Just as a general rule, always check "Ignore Head Collisions"...unless you are conforming something with a hood on it like a cloak.

I am going to have to fix the ReadMe in the .zip too. I will let you know when I've done that so you can re-grab it. Otherwise, everything else is as it should be. Too many things bouncing around in my head and I apologize for the error.

I have corrected the ReadMe file in the zip and you can pick up the corrected zipped tutorial  here (http://fantasiesrealm.com/sidherose/Tutorials/DynamicReadMe.zip).

Again, I apologize but sometimes all the stuff going on in my head collides and I make stupid mistakes.

I've been taking a little break in things today...I just need one after last week.

Fixed this one too--DA

I have no idea why it misbehaves since the links in primary and the next one linked were perfect...LOL

It might not be you totally, sometimes the server likes to not cough up the goodies. It being a private folder should behave and it was written right, just did not want to work...even with the original link.

I sometimes have problems too but I think it will behave now that it has been threatened...LOL

Well, now that we be back on track, by following the few points that I noticed I never changed or were at a different value then mentioned I got my first one to work and even did a bit of the combo trick on it by having some extra body or pizza in certain areas.

Some reason though it covered on nipple properly but the other is doing the peek a boo .... just  a bit but still  .... darn it.

Now for my next trick is to get the Dragonbraid hair to fit as it seems to not have G4 fits in it ... then again since I got it to fit Mavka this should be a .... radial segment of a baked confection ... :flagwaving:

I think whether or not it will cover exaggerated nipples likely depends on some more advanced setting in the "Collide Against" settings...or maybe if you just leave those two values at 1.000 where I said to change it to 0.500. OR...and I'm I shall be roundly booed for such a suggestion by certain here...you could always just crank those puppies down a notch or two - or REM them. I always put INJ/REM Nipples in my girls' morphs to make it easy.

When I clothified the "Witchy Dress" to "Queen" I had to crank the size of her breasts down a bit. AND I put those two settings back to 1.000. It was covering her left one fully, but not her right one. Both together helped. So there probably are some settings there you can play around with and see what works. Those two settings are NOT carved in stone. They're all variables you can play with.

And then there's all the stuff on the right panel there. I have only messed with that briefly and in the past...so we won't go there for awhile. Theoretically though, the creator should have built the correct settings into the cloth - or Poser does that when it creates the item of clothing as a prop. Maybe Marcia would know the answer to that.

You shouldn't drink sodas at all. That stuff is soooooo bad for you in so many ways. It eats your calcium and Vitamin C out of your body. Here in the US, they don't make it with sugar. They make it with (drumroll) GM corn modified corn syrup - you're drinking small quantities of Roundup. They add up. Worse for you than sugar in small quantities. And who knows what it's doing to your genes? Mmmmmmm??? They use 'gene splicing' to make GM stuff, you know. It doesn't stop after the first time. It's like a Timex Watch - "takes a licking and still keeps ticking". AND, you can clean the corrosion off your car battery cables with Coke...or Pepsi. Did you know that? Eats it right off there for you. Put that in your stomach, now.

And oh...the aluminum in the aluminum cans - you're courting Alzheimers. And the pcbs in the plastic bottles...really bad for you, especially if the plastic gets warm.

Aren't I just a little bundle of sunshine? Sorry but it really is bad for you. Maybe not ginger-ale so much, but the rest - yeah.

The good news is...I've never been much of a soda drinker at all...but I do like my Ginger Ale every now and then when the meds kick me down....or a Sprite  :tearlaugh:

Haven't done sodas for years ... maybe an occasional one but definitely many centuries twixt them.

Aluminum cans same trend so whether it is a plastic or aluminum can for a soda or any other beverage been a while.

The trick though is that I do like to drink my Propel water and it comes in a plastic bottle but I have heard about the heating up of the plastic bottle being no good, which regrettably one can do nothing about how many times that occurred before it got to the store but I do keep that occurring once in my possession.

So Propel, :sake: and :java: are the main beverages in this household. Maybe even some tea

You're fine with your ginger ale, TL.

Really, I was speaking to those who do drink it and a lot. There was a time when I probably went through 2 six-packs of Pepsi in 4-5 days, if not more. I have seen the car battery thing with my own eyes. It works very well!

As far as plastic containers go, I think the pcbs in the soft plastics are worse than the ones in the harder plastics, if memory serves. Can you find some alternative container to pour your water into that you can rinse out each night, J?

Thankfully I never had a thing for the pops.....My kids did and so did the wife.  She use to drink RC Cola as if there was no tomorrow.  Finally, after many many years, she cut back and started drinking the sprites and ginger ale drinks.

But I do like the Ginger Ale for some reason....

Example......I always like to have some in the fridge.  Brought a 12 pack in the beginning of the month....Got 8 left.....and the Grandson drank two of them :tearlaugh: :tearlaugh:  But is does something to settle the stomach for me after my Monthly boughts with the clinic.

I like my diet coke and occasionally dr.pepper and sprite expecially when we have queasy tummies like today...heaters kaput and the cold inside the house make for upset tummy when we eat.

Sounds like some serious research needed there and one would need at least four of them as I typically empty 4 @ 16 oz.   a day

Least we be hydrated with water ... well, they call it fitness water but water none the less

good  spring  water  works  well especially if it comes from a  local source and not somebodys  tap and don't have  all the  minerals  filtered out
