Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
« on: September 14, 2018, 09:55:39 PM »
I have been following the manga from the beginning and was so glad an anime was in the works and at long last available.

Bottom line I just purchased it and am watching it for the first time ... so far "we are ever so frelling pleased" can't wait to watch it a second time through so I catch all the nuances.

The premise is an overworked office lady was chilling out in the mountains and was drinking (heavily) imagine that ... and met a dragon ....next day ye ole dragon, Tohru showed up at the office lady's apartment, Miss Kobayashi and became her maid.

Next thing you know a young dragon named Kanna showed up looking for her friend Tohru and was allowed to stay in this world and at Miss Kobayashi's place.

And it gets crazy from there,

There is currently six volumes in the manga with a spin off featuring Kanna that is at four volumes and now at long last an anime.

Which as mentioned previously, is a mix of cute, slice of life, and magical .... nothing overtly "ecchi" so it is suitable for all ages. There is a few bits of dialog that can go in that direction but they do not pursue it

That particular story might actually be of interest to my son. Sounds kinda similar to one he likes about a boy who has to play chaperone to some young monster deities. I will have to ask him about the name of it later.

Been watching this for the third or fourth (or whatever) time by now. Love it for the light hearted nature of the series.

The great thing in my mind is that after reading volume 8 of the manga, I saw a blurb stating that there is going to be a second season of the anime

Volume 10 has been picked up and devoured ... I mean read ... definitely going in a new direction and we like it.

However the real reason for the post here is the voice actor that does Tohru ... yes I know the voice people do multiple Anime's and it has just now started to get through my thick skull that some of them are "quite distinctive" and I finally picked up on the fact that Tohru sounded like someone else in a different anime.

So after I finished watching "How not to Summon a Demon Lord" I checked and sure enough ... truth ... and the mystery of who the voice actress played in that anime I will leave to thy research.

I checked to see who did the voice of Tooru (couldn't find anyone named Tohru in that series) and then checked the list of voice actors for How Not To Summon A Demon Lord and that voice actress does not appear on any list I checked.
