Well, it happened again.

My prediction that they needed more cables to be ran over at the Federal law enforcement communication place.

Dang, I so dislike always being right about such mundane things. Although it does prove one thing, the engineers have no clue as to what they need or how much, since I ran cable based on their original diagram.

Which by the way was a crap diagram, thank goodness I am skilled enough to read between the lines and figure it out sort of on my own .... mainly because I have cabled up set ups like this more then once.

The only bonus to all of this is that I did receive a "High Five" for the work that I had done without any supervision.

And this was from the Federal System project manager. Which I have received one from him previously, so it is quite nice to receive a second one.

The amusing part was although I did not get a "High Five" from the engineer, he did state that he loved the work I had done.

Guess I can do some exemplary cabling when given the time and full details ... :iminnocent:

Yes it does ...

As I have said before a "thank you" does go a long way.

Now the cranky part, was told you need to go out and raise the receive antenna for the VA hospital.

Today, as in right now.

 :rat-atat:

Sure let me see if I have something in the shop to pull this one out of my a**

Damn it, I can ...

I really need to stop doing rubbish like this ...

So me and the other two installers went out there and since we had a game plan prior to even getting there we were able to get this task completed in roughly 4 hours and that is including travel time there and back.

Got to love a roof with the white reflective membrane on it with an outside temp of 95° with no heat index factored into it.

Do I sound cranky, well yes I am ... out of the blue .. it is now important to raise the receive antenna, considering that I found out the other day that due to the Federal ST inability to properly commission the system, it has never work properly from the beginning.

Now I want to know is long will it take to get the ST out there to sweep the line and check the isolation twixt the transmit and receive. Because if it is going to be weeks or months they deserve every bit of my angst :rat-atat:

Oh, and by the way we have 15 new radios that need to added to the hospital inventory, asset tagged and programmed.

:thud:

One could hope ... yes indeed.

Although yes, I did receive a raise I am not certain yet as to how much it is till I see the next paycheck. You can tell me annual numbers all you want but they mean nothing to mean to me till I see the hourly rate.

Anyway had to go back out to the Federal comm center, why as mentioned previously, I predicted that there was not enough cables ran to set the system up.

The funny part, I was told, we need four more cables ran.

:thud: When I got there this morning it turns out that the six I had previously ran were in the wrong rack ... thank goodness we do not do banjo string cabling, which means I was able to re-route them the where they wanted with slack to spare.

Then they wanted another ten cables made, eight within the rack of the new equipment . Plus two more to tie the back up to the core site.

This is starting to resemble one of those career mistakes where I am to good at the (what I consider to be) simple stuff that everybody wants me to do it for their projects.

I really need to get others up to the same level or I will go nowhere.

Case in point I just received another "high five" for the work I did for this install. And yes, we are quite pleased to receive two for this project.

Then again, I heard what the system techs encountered when they went to the other site that was supposed to be installed in the same fashion.

In other words the other crew just racked and stacked the equipment. They did nothing about power cords, grounding or data cabling.
