~Little Crayons~
|
~TOTW WINNER WK of 9/12/20~
Eleven days before Christmas the lives of 20 young children were erased. The victims, children six and seven years old, their lives only just beginning in earnest. This was the time in a child’s life when he or she lets go of their mommies hand for the first time. The time in a young life when a child waves good bye happily stepping into their class room looking back over their shoulders smiling as their mothers look on smiling back at her child with tears in her eyes thinking, “she’s not my baby anymore”, or maybe wondering, “what will he become”. That time in life when a child starts making their own decisions, exploring the world around them, and discovering their own individuality.
Like little crayons they begin to draw and color in their own lives and futures. Their mothers and fathers step back and watch, doing their best as parents to guide them.
One can only wonder what the finished work each of these little crayons would have been. Which one would have drawn himself a doctor, or would she have colored herself a lawyer, an engineer, police officer, firemen, or a professional soldier? Would the blue crayon have become a spiritual leader in his or her community, would the red crayon have become a politician, yellow a nurse, and green an actor? Would brown have become an astronaut traveling through the heavens, or how about pink, would she have discovered a cure for cancer? All those little crayon’s that never had a chance to grow, to complete their work, their life’s masterpiece what might they have become in life?
